Now you can help The Animal Rescue Site choose which eligible Petfinder.com animal rescue organizations will receive special funds to help animals! Voting is simple: just select your Country and (if U.S. or Canada) State/Province. All other fields are optional and accept partial (but not misspelled or inaccurate) information. You can cast one vote every day for your favorite rescue organization.

If you're having trouble finding your favorite Petfinder.com member rescue organization, please double-check your spelling to make sure it's correct and matches your organization's exact name. Note that "optional" fields are not required for your search, and that they accept partial information. For example, you could enter "Lon" instead of "London" in the "City" field, and "Fluff" or "Farm" instead of "Fluffy's Famous Farm For Family Furballs" in the "Shelter Name" Field. Remember that, to be eligible, the rescue organization must be a registered member of Petfinder.com!
Seventy-seven (77) grants will be awarded for a total of $100,000 to eligible Petfinder.com members. Final prizes will go to the eligible Petfinder.com organization with the highest accumulative votes for the duration of the Challenge as specified in the rules.
Voting begins on May 17, 2010, and ends at midnight (PST) on August 22, 2010. The more friends you can rally to vote for your favorite rescue organization, the better its chances of winning. Every vote, every day counts - shelters can pull ahead even during the last few days with enough support. Get people involved! Your favorite rescue organization is counting on you!
Eligible organizations with the most votes could receive a weekly prize and/or one of the other grants below:
Grand Prize: One $10,000 grant!
Second Prize: One $7,000 grant!
Third Prize: One $5,000 grant!
Most Touching Story Prize - May: One $2,000 grant!
Most Touching Story Prize - June: One $2,000 grant!
Most Touching Story Prize - July: One $2,000 grant!
Most Touching Story Prize - August: One $2,000 grant!
State Winners*: Fifty-one $1,000 state grants
(50 U.S. states and Washington D.C.)
Canadian Winners*: Three $1,000 grants will be awarded.
International Winner*: Two $1,000 grants will be awarded.
Weekly Winners* Fourteen $1,000 grants will be awarded, one for each week of the Shelter+ Challenge.

*The Petfinder.com organization with the most votes from each U.S. state, one in Washington D.C., the top two organizations in Canada, and two organizations located internationally will receive a grant of $1,000 at the end of the Challenge. Winners of the Grand Prize, Second, and Third Prizes are not eligible for state or regional grants — in these cases, the award will go to the next eligible organization with the highest accumulative votes as specified in the rules. Winners of the Grand Prize are no longer eligible for the Grand Prize, Second, or Third prizes awarded in subsequent Shelter+ Challenges during the same calendar year, but remain eligible for Most Heartwarming Story prizes as well as state and weekly prizes. All other shelters, regardless of size or location, are eligible to win the Grand Prize!
**One Petfinder.com organization with the most votes during a week will receive a grant of $1,000. Each weekly voting period begins on a Monday and ends at midnight PST the following Sunday. Participants are eligible for only one weekly prize during the Challenge. Winning a weekly prize does not prevent an organization from receiving a final prize - so keep voting!
